Culp Wins At Boyd

Raven Culp driving the #3 sprinter won the SST feature event Friday night at Boyd Speedway. Despite the threat of bad weather, the event proved to be flag to flag nail biter with plenty of fast passing. Culp moved from his sixth place starting position to take the lead from Kenny Venable driving #59 who lead a good portion of the race but had to settle for second. Dustin Woods driving the #00 came home in third. The next scheduled event is Saturday May 25 at Heart ‘O Texas Speedway near Waco.

Herring Wins In Abilene

Mike Herring driving the #99 Babe’s Chicken, Old Air Products sponsored sprinter won the SST Feature event in Abilene on Saturday May 4th. Herring started on the outside of the first row and held off late race charges from Jerry Hammock in #01 and Kurt Summers in #71. The packed crowd was treated to a great event and the drivers enjoyed the fans attention as well.

Car Show in Abilene

We need cars for a pre-race car show in Abilene. Show time is 2pm to 4pm Saturday at the same location as last time. Smiley request all SST racers who can attend, please bring your SST sprint car to a car show this Saturday at the Taco Bell in Abilene. The location is only about two miles from the track. The address is 4341 S. 1st Street, Abilene, TX. Going west from Dallas, take I30 to Fort Worth then continue on I20 about 137 miles, take exit 283A on the left and merge onto US-277 towards San Angelo for 2.4 miles. Take I20 Business exit toward Sweetwater then a slight right at the crossover. Click on the Events tab to find a Google map link. Contact Smiley for details.

Howell Wins At Lawton

Jason Howell driving the #44 won the SST season opening event at Lawton Speedway on Saturday April 13. Howell started 10th in the inverted field of 20 SST sprinters. He chased down the early leader, Phil Harris in #4, who came across the line in second but was DQ’d in tech inspection for being 8 pounds under weight. That moved Russell Shoulders, in #29, to the second spot and Jerry Hammock, in #01, to third.

For fans and participants traveling on HWY 287 to Saturday’s event in Lawton Oklahoma, a reminder: The NASCAR race at TMS may cause heavy traffic along I35W and HWY 287 out of Fort Worth. We suggest you go around the problem. Try I35E through Denton and HWY 380 to Decatur, then north on 287 to Lawton.
