Beechler Wins At Mountain Creek
Ryan Beechler driving the Outlaw Driving School sponsored #1 took the SST season finale Saturday night at the recently re-opened Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie.
The #1 car, normally driven by Johnny Suggs, was Ryan’s for the night and he made the most of the opportunity. He accepted the winner’s racing cap from series sponsor J.V. Brotherton of Brodix Cylinder Heads in victory lane along side the lucky spectator who held the winning autographed flag she got from Ryan during driver introductions. Beechler started from the eight spot and worked his way forward passing then race leader and pole sitter Gary Kelly in car #12. He held of a late race charge from Jerry Hammock in #01 who had to settle for second. Kelley finished in third. This event marks the end of a spectacular race season for the SST which has continued to increase in popularity every year since it’s inception in 2004-2005. The 2012 event calendar will be announced soon with a consistent every-other week schedule starting in March and ending in October. We want to thank all the race teams and track promoters for their continued support and most of all the dedicated fans who make our sport possible. See you next year!

Sturgeon Wins at Killeen
Keith “Fabio” Sturgeon driving #77 won his first ever SST feature event Saturday night at Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen. The pre Halloween introductions and “trick or treat” at intermission gave the audience a chance to meet all the drivers and learn that Sturgeon, who has the nick name of “Fabio,” had be earlier challenged to have his hair cut if he won. True to the promise, Danny Merrell came up with a pair of scissors and made the clip to “Fabio’s” hair in victory circle. Sturgeon, who won his heat race, started on the pole of the feature and lead every lap to take the win. Kenny Elwood in #21 gave chase from his sixth place starting spot to take second. Mike Herring in #99 made several runs at the leaders but had to settle for third from his eight place start. The final SST event of the 2011 season is scheduled for Saturday November 12th at Mountain Creek (formerly Grand Prairie) Speedway.

Howell Wins at 85 Speedway

Jason Howell driving the #44 won the SST A-Main event Saturday night at 85 Speedway near Ennis. Howell started 12th in the inverted field of 20 sprinters and quickly moved to the third spot by lap five. As Ed French in #17 tried to find a way around the early leader Bruce Bridges in #11, Howell saw an opening and made his move into second on lap 12. He shadowed Bridges for five more laps until lap 17 when he took the lead. Jerry Hammock in #01 had to start dead last in the field as his reward for winning the previous event’s A-main and passed every car in the field except Howell to finish in second. Bridges was able to hang on for third after leading 16 of the twenty laps.
The next SST event is scheduled for Saturday October 29th at Kileen’s Texas Thunder Speedway.
